ORANGE COUNTY PROVIDER COALITION
Re: Minutes from the 8/28/09 Executive Board meeting of the coalition
The executive board met at Independent Living, Inc. in Newburgh
Officers: President – Carol Femenella, Accent on Ability
Vice President – Susan Swiat, Ages & Stages
Treasurer – Suzanne Tremper, ECDC
Secretary - Diane Troeller
§ Membership – the board discussed the possibility of charging dues in order to encourage support from members and streamline how information is shared. A major concern is that the by-laws call for officers to serve only 2 year terms and this would be the 2nd year for all positions. A topic for the first general coalition meeting will be the benefits of paid membership in the coalition.
§ Similarly; the coalition will develop its own email list of members who will be forwarded pertinent information on upcoming legislation, training and changes in policy
§ Finances – ECDC, who has handled our finances through its affiliation with Independent Living, Inc. may lost its funding in June 2010. We discussed the possibility of filing as a not-for-profit agency and would discuss this when Diane can provide more technical information on the requirements.
§ Donation – The coalition would like to donate some of the proceeds of our 4th Annual Early Childhood Conference to a local agency that serves children in Orange County and agreed to ask the general membership for recommendations.
§ Meeting Dates – It was agreed that we would keep our monthly meeting dates as the 1st Friday of each month. Diane posted those dates on the website.
§ 5th Annual Early Childhood Conference – per evaluation comments from the 4th conference, the coalition will look into visual impairments and visual processing as a topic and/or listening therapy with St. Francis as a partner presenter.
§ Next OCPC meeting scheduled for 10/2/09 @ Perkins Restaurant in Newburgh, breakfast at 7:30, followed by meeting at 8:15.
